Singing Into Summer

August 2033 - Del Sol Valley, California
Carter/Wiggins family - Mona is 38, Ethan is 36, Max is 9, Lucy is 6

Summer time is all about enjoying the time off from school. Max and Lucy know it will start soon, so they’re determined to be outside as much as possible.

Their parents, however, prefer summer days indoors. Mona and Ethan go out around the city with George and Dorothy when they can. 

A new karaoke bar has opened and the group heads out there one afternoon to try it out. Ethan is eager to show off his skills.

“You’re better at playing the guitar than you are singing,” George tells him. 

“Oh, yeah?” Ethan asks. “Let’s battle it out.”

It may be intended to be a musical battle, but soon it’s just a fun duet in which they both act overly dramatic as they sing loud into the microphones.

“I’ll call it an even match,” Dorothy says. “What about you?”

“Definitely an equal show of a drama induced love song,” Mona says. “They both wailed at the top of their lungs.”

Ethan looks at George in confusion. “Does that mean they liked it or not?”

George shrugs. “I still don’t know for sure what women really think.”

Glimmerbrook, Washington
Lloyd family - William is 69, Julie is 68

“It’s time to tell him,” William tells his wife as they finish dinner with one of their sons.

“Tell me what?” Blake asks.

“We’ve decided to enjoy our retirement in a place we’ve fallen in love with,” Julie begins. “Glimmerbrook. You know, that little town near Granite Falls? We enjoyed our trip there so much that we made the decision after a lot of talk.”

“But you won’t be able to see your kids and grandkids every day,” Blake says. He won’t exactly mind living on his own finally, but it will be strange not having his parents there every day.

“We know,” Julie says. “But we’ll come back to visit of course, and all of you can come out there for vacation. It’s what we really want, right, William?”

William nods. “It’s time to relax and enjoy our retirement.”

And so they move within the next couple of weeks. They had already gotten up with a realtor in that area who helped them find a small home in town. It’s nice, these quiet nights with just the two of them.

They explore the little town, meeting new people and taking bike rides through the quiet streets

It was a big decision to make but Julie and William know they’re meant to spend their relaxing days of retirement here in this area they’ve fallen in love with.

William and Julie are my first Sims to live in Glimmerbrook. I haven't had that pack very long so I haven't explored it much. But I decided that they had loved going to Granite Falls so much they wanted to move to that area and I have Glimmerbrook located only a short distance away on my map. I have no intention of using the magic side of what Glimmerbrook brings into the game though.

 

Max and Lucy lost their little pet Hammy. :(
