June 2033 Graduations

Pine Hollow, North Carolina

It’s graduation day! Emma and Seth Lloyd throw a party to celebrate their older set of twins graduating from high school.

Everyone likes Seth's cooking on the grill and line up to wait.

Emma runs the little bar they set up for the adult guests and so Zoey tries to take advantage of this celebration.

 

“I’ll take a glass of flaming zesty salt,” Zoey says.

Emma shoots her a stern look. “You graduated high school, not college. You can have water or fruit punch.”

Zoey makes a face but takes a glass of water. Non-alcoholic fruit punch just sounds too babyish for her.

Britechester, Illinois

It’s also graduation day for Charlotte Craig at the University of Britechester. 

Even though she’s celebrating Charlotte is also a bit sad. She won’t be living in the dorms with Adam anymore. He’s staying behind for one more semester to finish his credits while she’s traveling far away to start a new stage of life.

But Adam promises that it will go by quick and they’ll be together again. Maybe forever. Charlotte isn’t sure what he thinks might happen between them. But right now she’ll try not to worry about it.

A few days after graduation, Charlotte makes the trip from Britechester to Pine Hollow to stay with her parents for a couple weeks, and then finally the big trip she’s been preparing for: a move across the world to Sulani. So far from everyone and everywhere and everything she knows. But she’s looking forward to exploring these islands in her work.

Obviously Charlotte is telling Adam about their plans for the future. She had the lowest grade of the college graduates as you can see, but still she graduated with a B- and will be going into conservation work in Sulani.
