May 2030 - Pine State University, Arcadia, North Carolina
University students: Baine Austin is 21, Yori Hayashi is 21, Violet Craig is 20, Kat Gates is 20
Everyone is staying busy this spring semester, working hard at keeping up with their classes. Violet finds her public speaking classes to be a breeze.
While Kat finds her gardening classes to be a breeze.
Yori stays busy in his rocket science classes.
Baine is staying busy too. He's proud of himself for getting his term paper done right at the beginning of the semester. That will save him some worries for the rest of the term.
Violet is trying to write a term paper, but their dormmate just is not helping with her concentration. He likes to brag about being from Sulani and being an expert at music from a tropical paradise.
But one night Violet has had enough and tells him where that guitar will go if he doesn't stop playing it in her ear.
But schoolwork isn't the only focus in this college life.
It’s easy to find things to keep you busy between classes.
Kat tries to practice with her debate club and upcoming events when she can. She's dismayed one afternoon to find Violet is the volunteer opposition for debate practice.
She does what she can to argue her points. Even though her ex,Violet’s current boyfriend, Baine is there on the front row to watch.
Violet does her own arguments, the smirk on her face showing that she believes she’s got this debate easily.
But to the surprise of both of them, Kat is chosen as the winner. Kat can’t help cheering while Violet pouts.

“Does that even make sense?” Yori asks, turning to look back at Kat.
“Um,” Kat says. She tried to listen to Yori’s presentation, but while she’s a science major, some of the things Yori is studying in physics does confuse her a bit.
Kat sits on the bed, trying to think of advice she can give him.
“She’s saying your presentation makes no sense,” Violet says. Baine is sitting on the opposite side of the room, but Violet is sitting on Yori’s bed, to Kat’s annoyance. “Do it over and put things together in proper Simlish. And make that board look nice. Straighten it all out.”
Well, at least Violet doesn’t have any problems saying what she thinks.
One day, Yori and Baine find themselves working in the lab at the same time after classes.
Baine has been having a little trouble with some of his work. Yori hears Baine grumbling again and turns toward him. “Is there anything I can help you with?”
“No thanks,” Baine says through clenched teeth.
“I don’t mind helping,” Yori tells him. “You really got this together well, it just needs some additional work right here.”
Baine clenches his teeth tight, but does what Yori says, finding this advice to be just what he needs.
And so ever since Yori helped him with his class project, Baine now considers Yori to kind of be his friend. Their girlfriends just don’t know what to think about this.

Violet finds Baine sitting at a table in the campus’s open area near the dorm. Someone else is sitting with him, talking nonstop.
“Uh,” Violet says as she sits down. Next to her boyfriend. “Who are you?”
“This is Lucy,” Baine says. “She’s in my robotics class.”
“Hi,” Lucy says, trying to smile at Violet.
“Well you’re not in class right now, so…” She waves her fingers to shoo Lucy away.
“You don’t have to go,” Baine tells her.
“It’s okay,” Lucy says. “I need to go out to the library to do some research.”
When she’s gone, Baine asks, “Do you always think other girls are competition and you have to chase them away?”
“Do you always think girls are nothing but your friends?” Violet snaps back.
They argue for a while, but Violet just won't give in. “Don’t go around sitting with random girls,” Violet snaps at him as the sun sets and night begins to fall.
“You’re too jealous,” Baine says. “I’m not interested in Lucy.”
“Then don’t let her think you are,” Violet says. “I saw the way she looked at you.”
Baine lets out a long sigh. “Seriously, I’m not interested in her. I’m with you, okay?”
She looks at him for a few minutes before she finally says, “Okay. But if I see her look at you that same way again, I swear I’ll slap her until she learns her lesson.”

I was wondering if you ever thought about giving Violet the jealous trait, because it would be fitting for her, lol!
ReplyDeleteHow funny it would be if Yori and Baine became friends. Looks like Violet and Kat might not be able to get rid of each other so easily. I wonder if they'll ever make peace?
2 classes seems to be a sweet spot for my students. Just challenging enough without being overwhelming. I'm doing 2 semesters/year for 4 years, so they really never need to load up on classes more than that. I'd rather them focus on building skills and stirring up drama! :)
I need to give Violet that jealous trait, lol! Violet and Kat probably wouldn't be too excited if their boyfriends did become actual friends. I don't know that they could actually handle it!
DeleteThat's how I'm handling university too, 2 classes each semester, with two semesters counting as one school year, so four years to finish up those 12 credits. Though if they get on academic probation they can either try to add another class to their next semester or stay a semester longer. But if they then fail again and get suspended, oh well. They'll have to wait a couple years before they can try to finish up that degree.
Oh, Violet...letting her jealousy take over isn't going to do anything positive for her relationship with Baine! She really needs to try to keep that in check.
ReplyDeleteI'm yet to figure out sim grades. I have my students do basically the same thing but they get mostly As and Bs but there's often a random C, D or F in there, for some reason.
I get so annoyed with the grades! Sometimes my Sims make As and Bs, but then I'll have a Sim fail a class even though they have their skill level almost as high as they can go and have done their exams or projects. So frustrating.
